Hispasat moves Amazonas 4 satellite to expand LatAm telecom offer

12/22/2017
Spanish operator Hispasat has announced the successful transfer of its Amazonas 4 satellite to a new orbital position with a view to offering new telecommunications in Brazil and other Latin American countries. The Amazonas 4, which was launched on 22 April 2014 and will now be called Hispasat 74W-1, has been moved from its original position at 61 degrees West to its new orbital position at 74 degrees West. It will be the first satellite in Hispasat’s fleet to provide commercial telecommunication services from this position, after the company’s Brazilian subsidiary Hispamar obtained the exploitation rights in the Ku band in 2015.
